Grantmaking
Organized in 1958, the Arts & Scientific discipline Council combines resources from the Almanac Fund Drive, allocations from local, country and federal governments, and its endowment to support cultural organizations, educational programs and individual artists throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Grant programs include Operating Grants arts, science and history organizations; Arts Instruction funding to ArtsTeach to support arts programs in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and Cultural Project Grants to support neighborhood and community-based projects involving arts, science, history or heritage beyond Mecklenburg County, Projection grants to artists, Commissions of new works, Recognition of lifetime achievement in the arts, sciences or history, Professional and volunteer evolution programs to increase the capacity of creative individuals and organizations, the direction of the Public Art programme for the Urban center of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and private developers.
